Vijay Deverakonda’s costliest pan-India venture Kingdom is currently staring down the barrel of an inevitable delay. Though the team had locked in May 30 as the grand release date, with the clock ticking and just over a month left, buzz within industry circles suggests that the film might not make it in time.

While the team is pushing full throttle to meet the deadline, things aren’t exactly smooth behind the scenes. Dubbing has picked up pace, and Vijay himself has started recording his parts, with behind-the-scenes glimpses recently released.

But the real bottleneck seems to be the background score, and all eyes are on composer Anirudh Ravichander. With a jam-packed schedule, Anirudh is struggling to find a slot for Kingdom’s re-recording. And everyone knows—great BGM needs time. Rushing it could water down the film’s impact, something we’ve seen happen with other big budget movies.

The urgency to stick to the May 30 date isn’t just about timelines—it’s strategy. The month of June is crowded with big releases like Kubera, Thug Life, and Kannappa. If Hari Hara Veera Mallu also slips into June, the competition will be fierce. Missing the May window could dilute Kingdom’s box office potential, especially since it’s targeting multiple languages.
