Director arrested in Drug Case soon after Film Release!

The Malayalam film industry seems to be getting trapped in drug issues lately. We already saw how big a controversy actor Shine Tom Chacko’s case created. Now, director Khalid Rahman, who delivered a superhit with Alipuzha Jinkhana, has been caught in a drug case, creating a huge sensation.

Last night around 2 AM, Khalid Rahman was arrested along with another director, Ashraf Hamza, and a third person named Shalif Mohammed by Kerala police. The police raided an apartment near Gosree Bridge in Kochi, belonging to cinematographer Sameer Thahir, and found 1.6 grams of hybrid marijuana, leading to the case.

According to local media reports, the three have been given station bail. However, because the charges are serious, they may not easily escape further legal trouble. It seems that based on a secret tip-off, police conducted a well-planned raid and found the drugs, which has now become a hot topic in the Malayalam film industry.

This incident shows how drugs are being misused openly in the industry. Recently, actress Vincy had made accusations that forced actor Shine Tom Chacko to issue an apology, and the film association warned him that another mistake could lead to a ban.

Khalid Rahman, who had a bright career ahead after hits like Thallumaala and Alipuzha Jinkhana, getting involved in a drug case is disappointing. People are criticizing the fact that while films talk about the dangers of drugs, some film personalities are not following the same in real life.

Senior industry legends like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Priyadarshan, and Fazil have worked in hundreds of films without getting involved in controversies. It is unfortunate that today’s new filmmakers are taking the wrong path after doing just a few films. Many are worried that these incidents are bringing a bad name to the Malayalam film industry.
