Star director SS Rajamouli was one of the guests at the recently commenced World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit 2025 (WAVES) in Mumbai. Addressing a large audience at the event, Rajamouli made several interesting remarks about India’s rich storytelling legacy.
Rajamouli stated that India has been a land of stories and storytellers for thousands of years, with millions of tales from the Puranas and Itihasas. “No country in the world even comes close to India in having such a vibrant and rich culture of storytelling,” said the SSMB29 director.
He further emphasized that India has hundreds of languages, diverse art forms, and countless stories rooted in its ancient history. “Storytelling has always been in India’s DNA. No other country can match the depth and diversity of our narrative traditions,” he added.
However, Rajamouli also pointed out that India is still not on par with countries like the USA, South Korea, and China in terms of global media presence. “I have no doubt in the power we possess. We just need the right launchpad. I hope WAVES provides that,” he concluded.
Cinema stalwarts such as Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Nagarjuna, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and young stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kartik Aaryan, Naga Chaitanya, and Sobhita Dhulipala also graced the prestigious event.
