The Ramayana is one of the keenly anticipated biggies that will come out of Bollywood in the next couple of years. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Sai Pallavi as Rama, Ravana, Hanuman, and Sita, respectively, the Nitesh Tiwari-directed epic is being made as a two-part franchise, and it will have a massive global release during Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027.
Ramayana’s much-awaited announcement teaser was supposed to be screened at the ongoing WAVES Summit in Mumbai. However, the screening was called off due to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, a decision that received applause from all quarters. The 156 second-long 3D teaser received a U certificate from the CBFC.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis visited the Ramayana pavilion at the Summit along with PM Narendra Modi. Impressed with the sneak peek, the CM reportedly told the film’s producer, Namit Malhotra, that he was amazed to see the quality of Ramayana that the team is creating. “I believe this is how we should tell our stories to the new generation, and I believe what you are setting up will be the best in the globe,” said the CM, much to the joy of Ramayana’s team.
Well, while all eyes will be on the Ramayana announcement teaser, which will be released for public viewing in a few days, one wonders if the announcement video will manage to create a positive impact, especially since it is being made with a huge budget of nearly Rs 1,000 crore. Oscar-winning composers AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer are working on the film’s epic soundtrack.
