Amarnath Blames Volunteers For Jagan Defeat

One of the principal implementations made by YS Jagan during his time, as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh is the introduction of Village Volunteer system. He desired to build a strong framework for himself through this volunteer system, where government schemes were directly delivered to the public through these appointed individuals.

However, this massive framework project, which incorporated lakhs of volunteers turned out to be a big dud. It did not help Jagan one bit in his electoral prospect, and on top of that, YCP leaders themselves are saying that they fundamentally lost due to this volunteer system.

This statement has come from another than former IT minister Gudivada Amarnath who was a very close associate of Jagan himself. He publicly faulted the volunteer system and commented that this is one of the principal reasons behind their defeat in 2024.

“We promised to bring back the volunteer system after we retained power. We even warned these volunteers that Chandrababu would dismantle this program if he comes to power. But these volunteers still did not listen to us, and they did not work for us in the election. We lost due to the lack of their efforts.” Amarnath stated.

Fundamentally speaking, the volunteer system is an initiative on the behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government, and it is not directly linked to YCP. So expecting this government initiative to work for YCP and Jagan in the election at a party level is a fundamental disaster.

After having blamed the Chandrababu government for discontinuing the volunteers system, without creating legal precedent for it in the first place, YCP is now blaming the very system for their defeat. Their arguments and stance on this matter, self-contradictory in the first place.

It must be primarily noted that expecting a government-funded machinery to work for Jagan in elections is a bad misconception. The salaries for these volunteers were paid from the pocket of the government of Andhra Pradesh, but YCP still expected them to work for Jagan in the election which is strange on so many levels, said a seasoned strategist.
