The Bollywood film industry is struggling to keep up its momentum from time to time. Unlike in the South, the multiplex associations and the distributors demand an 8-week window period for a film to hit the OTT platforms. Surprisingly, two upcoming Tamil films will be opting for a 8-week period, to boost their collections in North India. The films are Thug Life and Coolie.
Earlier, many Tamil films had the scope to perform well at the box office but none of them were supported by the top multiplexes. It has resulted in the Tamil films not performing to the fullest. However, Thug Life and Coolie can change the scenario totally.
Already, the producers are weighing the options of a 8-week period so that they will get good multiplexes on board to screen their movies. Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam are joining hands after almost 4 decades and hence, the expectations are naturally high. Rajinikanth is also working with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for the first time and their combination is also worth betting on.
By next week, there will be a clarity on the release window of Thug Life. Additionally, team Coolie is also working on a plan that turns beneficial to all parties involved. With the actors and directors of both movies having established fan bases across the country, the films will definitely attract the attention of North Indian cinema buffs if given the right release.
Thug Life is releasing on June 5th, 2025 and Coolie is releasing on August 14th.
