In his entire career, if there is one film that Sekhar Kammula truly regrets, it is remaking Kahaani in Telugu. The film reflects a style that is away from what Sekhar Kammula usually presents. Now, the teaser of his next film, dubbed as Trance of Kubera, is not making the expected noise on social media.
In the current times, the buzz generated on social media for the initial promotional materials will decide the fate of any film, and the filmmakers would immediately take precautionary measures. When it comes to the recent teaser which was released yesterday, there is no doubt that it was brilliantly cut. Despite the team sharing it on social media, the response is not that great.
As a matter of fact, Kubera reflects a unique style, away from what we routinely expect from Sekhar Kammula. But, the intelligence lied in cleverly hiding the story element, hook point, and conflict but showcasing a lot of visuals and taking us into the world of Kubera. As we zoom out, the film tells the tale of a businessman, a government official and a beggar in Mumbai. But, as we zoom in, we cannot make out what the story is.
Technically, it is a brilliant teaser, but what remains a question is if this is something completely unexpected? There was an opinion that the audiences were not fully prepared for this version of Sekhar Kammula. On the other hand, there is also a comment that the teaser missed the target and it misses the punch.
Whatever it maybe, it is too early to arrive at a conclusion as Sekhar Kammula is one director who can never take audiences for granted. Either he is waiting for the right time to convey his vision or cooking a grand surprise to the audiences.
