Here is the most-expensive film that is ever made in the history of cinema. Even if it out-earned ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Lord Of The Rings’, it will be considered a flop.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) upcoming crossover event film with an estimated budget of one billion dollars.
This huge sum of money will be spent on visual effects and star-studded cast. It is stated that the salaries of the cast alone may exceed $250 million.
It is reported that Marvel has spent $8 million on its pre-production alone. It is more than thrice what was spent on ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, which eventually cost $388 million.
So far the most-expensive Hollywood film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (2015), which was produced with $447 million. Second most expensive film was Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022) which costed producers a budget of $350–$460 million. Next comes ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ (2011). It was produced at the cost of approximately $379 million.
Forbes magazine reported that the per-week production cost of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is twice as much as ‘Quantumania’. Experts are predicting that the film could cost Marvel Studios anything between $500-600 million. This is much higher than the production cost of ‘Star Wars Episode IX’, which currently holds the record with a production cost of $447 million. However, it is still unsure about how Marvel Studios will end up spending on this humongous film project ever.
