Yash Raj Films (YRF) is going all-in for WAR 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, by taking full control of its global release. The much-awaited action spectacle is gearing up for a massive worldwide release on August 14, ahead of the Independence Day weekend.
Marking Jr NTR’s grand debut in Hindi cinema, WAR 2 is the sixth film in YRF’s high-profile Spy Universe, following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan and Tiger 3. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, the film brings together two powerhouse performers, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR for the first time on screen.
Given Jr NTR’s massive following in the Telugu states, several top Telugu production houses had reportedly approached YRF to acquire the regional theatrical rights. However, staying true to its strategy, YRF has decided to handle the film’s release on its own across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well. The same strategy applies to North India, the rest of South India, and overseas territories.
The shoot of WAR 2 is nearly complete, with just one major sequence left, a high-octane dance face-off between Hrithik and NTR. This schedule was initially delayed due to Hrithik Roshan’s knee injury during rehearsals but is expected to be wrapped up soon.
WAR 2 is set for a box office clash with Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, which also hits screens on August 14. With two massive star vehicles releasing on the same day, the Independence weekend promises a thunderous showdown at the box office.
