A festive celebration turned tragic for an Indian’s family in Dubai. Issac Paul Olakkengil, 29, belonging to Kerala, died during a scuba diving session at Jumeirah Beach in Dubai while he was enjoying Eid al-Adha with his family.
According to a report in Khaleej Times, Paul suffered a cardiac arrest after he went underwater on Friday. Issac worked as an engineer in the UAE. His uncle David Pyarilos, who is assisting the family with legal procedures, said that the incident occurred during a training session at a scuba diving area in Dubai.
Paul was part of the training session and suddenly, he began gasping for breath and was carried away by the water, he said.
Soon swimming experts pulled him out of the water and was rushed to a nearby healthcare unit, but could not save his life. Currently, his uncle is coordinating with the authorities to complete the documentation process required for repatriation of the body.
