Trend Revival: Tollywood Focuses On Comedy Entertainers

In the recent past, all our Telugu star heroes went after pan-India action films, which resulted in the shortage of comedy and family entertainers. But the humongous success of Sankranthiki Vasthunam proved that people like watching comedy and family entertainers from star heroes and would come to theatres in huge numbers if the movie is good. Now, some of our star heroes are coming with either comedy or family entertainers, changing their route.

Chiranjeevi-Anil Ravipudi:

After his comeback, Chiranjeevi acted in only mass commercial films and stayed away from complete entertainers. Comedy is one of his biggest strengths, and finally, he decided to come up with a comedy entertainer. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, this movie features Nayanthara as the female lead. It is slated for a theatrical release during Sankranthi 2026.

Prabhas’s The Raja Saab:

After acting in many action films like Baahubali, Saaho, Salaar and Kalki, Prabhas is now coming up with a horror-romantic-comedy film, The Raja Saab. Directed by Maruthi, this film is slated for release on December 5, 2025. Nidhhi Agerwal and Malavika Mohanan play the female leads in it.

Venkatesh-Trivikram:

Venkatesh is known for comedy family entertainers. On the other side, Trivikram is a master of this genre. Now, they are collaborating for an out-and-out entertainer, which will hit the floors later this year. Trivikram penned the story and dialogues for Venkatesh’s classics like Nuvvu Naku Nachav and Mallishwari. Thus, their reunion is now raising expectations among the audience.

Ravi Teja and Kishore Tirumala:

Ravi Teja is known for commercial comedy entertainers but after Dhamaka, he didn’t do such a film. Now, he is returning with Mass Jathara and another film with Kishore Tirumala. While Mass Jathara is touted to be a commercial mass entertainer, Ravi’s untitled film with Kishore is heard to be a complete entertainer that will appeal to all sections of the audience. The regular shoot of this movie will kickstart on June 16 and it is aiming for a Sankranthi 2026 release.
