“Bring Hollywood to Hyderabad” – Revanth Asks Rajamouli

Telanagana government initiated the Gaddar awards to the Telugu film industry personalities, as a replacement to Nandi Awards. The awards ceremony took place at Hitex on Saturday. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy attended the event as a special guest and granted the awards to the winners. Speaking at the event, he opened up his heart and mentioned that the government might appear tough but will care for the film industry.

“Dil Raju garu brought to our notice about reviving the culture to recognise the talents from the film industry. In the united Andhra Pradesh, Nandi Awards presentation began in 1964. ANR received the Best Award back then. In the last nine years, there was no presentation of awards and hence, our government revived it under the name, Gaddar Awards,” said Revanth Reddy.

Revanth went on to appreciate the efforts that Telugu film industry is putting. “Earlier, people used to credit Bollywood for Indian cinema and then there was a misconception that Telugu film industry continues in Chennai. But today, everyone knows that Telugu film industry represents Indian cinema. I appreciate all those who made it possible and also transformed Hyderabad as a hub for the Indian cinema,” said Revanth Reddy.

Revanth recollected the generations of actors and said, “Today, we have the fourth generation actors. I have known many of them from the time I was a student. Especially, I am familiar with Bunny, Venkat, Ashwini Dutt’s daughters and Nag Ashwin. I know all of them for a long time now.”

“Our government appears strict and tough but we care for all of you. We want to develop the film industry further,” said Revanth Reddy, suggesting the film industry must rise up to Hollywood standards by 2047. The government of Telangana is already building ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ initiative to develop the state in all fields. Revanth wanted to dedicate a chapter for Telugu film industry in the initiative.

“Why are we not bringing Hollywood here? Ask us what you want and we will provide you with the same. I will be active in politics for 22 years more and I shall support you in whatever capacity I can,” Revanth told Rajamouli and Tollywood.

Revanth Reddy also requested the deputy chief minister of Telangana to recognise Rahul Sipligunj who belongs to Old city of Hyderabad but made everyone proud by crooning to Naatu Naatu, which received Oscar.
