As the much-anticipated film Kannappa gears up for its worldwide release on Friday, June 27th, 2025, the production house, Twenty Four Frames Factory Pvt. Ltd., has issued a firm public notice aimed at critics, audiences, and digital entities, cautioning against baseless trolling or malicious attacks targeting the film or its makers.
In an official statement, the producers Said that Kannappa is the result of immense creative dedication, substantial investment, and complete legal and artistic compliance. The team confirmed that the film has secured all required certifications, intellectual property rights, and clearances for its scheduled release. They categorically stated that the film is a product of “lawful, legitimate, and creative enterprise.”
A Call for Responsible Criticism
The production house appealed to critics and the general public to watch the film first, understand its substance and intent, and engage with it responsibly. They urged audiences not to fall prey to prejudiced opinions or vendetta-driven commentary, especially without context or understanding.
Free Speech vs. Malicious Intent
While acknowledging the right to free speech under Article 19(1)(a) of the Indian Constitution, the makers cited judicial rulings that distinguish between legitimate critique and intentional, defamatory attacks. Referring to notable court judgments, including those from the Kerala and Delhi High Courts, they pointed out that deliberate reputational harm to creative works does not qualify as protected speech and may result in legal consequences.
Protection for Mohan Babu & Vishnu Manchu
The statement further highlighted that the Delhi High Court has granted legal protection to two principal actors of the film Dr. Mohan Babu and Mr. Vishnu Manchu, against any unauthorized use, distortion, or defamation of their image or public persona. Any violation of these legal safeguards, whether for commercial or personal gain, will be met with strict legal action.
Legal Action Against Piracy and Defamation
The producers also issued a warning against the unauthorized display, streaming, or dissemination of the film, either in full or in part. They stated that any such actions would invite civil, criminal, and cyber law consequences, with perpetrators bearing the full risk and responsibility of their actions.
A Film Deserving Celebration
Despite facing hurdles during its making, the Kannappa team reassured that they remain vigilant and committed to seeing the film reach audiences with the dignity it deserves. They closed their message by inviting public support, goodwill, and encouragement to celebrate Kannappa as the powerful cinematic work it strives to be.
