Venky Atluri’s Confession: His Unfinished Chapter with Naga Chaitanya

Director Venky Atluri, who has made a mark for himself in Telugu cinema with films like Sir and Lucky Baskhar, recently opened up about a lesser-known part of his journey, his repeated attempts to work with Akkineni Naga Chaitanya. In a recent interview, Venky spoke about his career growth, his bond with the Akkineni family, and his current project with Tamil star Suriya.

Venky’s association with the Akkineni family dates back to his second film, Mr. Majnu, which starred Akhil Akkineni. The film carried high expectations but didn’t perform as well as hoped. Despite that, Venky has always expressed his admiration for the Akkineni family, calling himself a true fan. When asked if he hoped to work with Akhil again, Venky quickly turned the focus to Akhil’s elder brother, Naga Chaitanya.

In a candid moment, Venky revealed, “For all my five films, my very first narration was with Naga Chaitanya. But none of those projects materialized due to scheduling conflicts and other reasons.” This shows a clear pattern, Venky has consistently pitched his scripts to Naga Chaitanya first, but the timing never aligned.

Venky also shared details of a recent meeting with Naga Chaitanya, where the actor smiled and said, “We shouldn’t miss this time — we must collaborate for sure.” This encouraging exchange hints that their long-awaited project may finally materialize.

The director also spoke about Akhil’s upcoming film Lenin, expressing confidence that it will be a success after listening to the script.

As Venky Atluri moves forward with his new family drama starring Suriya, his openness and desire to work with Naga Chaitanya have caught the attention of Telugu audiences, especially Akkineni fans. If everything falls into place, this collaboration could soon become a reality, one that fans have been waiting for.
