The shoot of War 2, the next installment in Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe, has been officially completed. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani in key roles and is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 14, 2025.
The project has been in production since October 2023, with shooting taking place across multiple international and domestic locations. The first schedule began in Salamanca, Spain, where a car chase sequence was filmed. The team later moved to Abu Dhabi for a boat chase and action scenes at Yas Marina Circuit.
In Mumbai, action blocks and set pieces were filmed throughout 2024, including Hrithik Roshan’s introductory katana fight shot on a specially constructed set resembling a Shaolin Monastery. A large-scale 40-man action sequence featuring Jr NTR was also filmed during this period.
Further schedules took place in Italy, covering Venice, Lake Como, and the Amalfi Coast, where song and action sequences involving Roshan and Advani were shot. The film’s climax was filmed at Film City and YRF Studios in Mumbai with the involvement of multiple international action choreographers.
The final schedule concluded this month with a dance sequence featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, choreographed by Bosco Martis. The song, which involved over 500 background dancers, was delayed earlier due to Roshan sustaining a leg injury but was completed today.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, the action thriller is positioned for a major release on the Independence Day weekend. Further details regarding promotional activities and trailer launch are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
