Producer Confirms ₹4000 Cr Budget for Upcoming Epic

There has been a lot of buzz around Ramayana’s budget ever since the first glimpse was released a few days ago. Many reports landed on the internet quoting different amounts as the budget of the film. Now, the film’s producer, Namit Malhotra, himself revealed the budget of this mythological epic.

In a recent podcast, Namit said that they are spending around $500 million, which equals roughly Rs. 4000 crores, for both parts of the Ramayana. That makes Ramayana the most expensive Indian film by miles. So far, none of the released Indian films’ budgets have crossed 1000 crores for that matter. Ramayana also becomes one of the most expensive franchises in world cinema with this budget.

“It will be around $500 million by the time we are done with both films put together, part 1 and part 2, which will be around Rs. 4000 crores. We are making the largest film in the world for the greatest story and greatest epic that the world should see. I think it’s still cheaper than some of the Hollywood films’ budgets. I think we are making a bigger film at a lower cost. For me, it’s not a money-driven thing,” said Namit.

Ramayana will have a worldwide release in numerous languages, just like any other Hollywood biggie. The makers are planning to position the film as a project no less than a DC or Marvel film.

Ramayana is bankrolled jointly by Namit Malhotra and Yash. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, this movie features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Laxman, and others. The first part will release during Diwali 2026 and the second part will hit the screens during Diwali 2027.
