Anirudh aka ‘Bakkodu’: How He Won Over the Telugu Audience!

Anirudh Ravichander debuted in the Indian film industry with the film 3(Moonu). Later, he went on to work with star heroes and star music composers. He debuted with the Telugu film titled Agnyathavaasi. Later, he emerged successful with the film Jersey. However, the love that he receives from the Telugu audiences is eternal. The Telugu community owned him as ‘Bakkodu’, which he also acknowledged.

Anirudh is someone whose music never has boundaries. Across languages, people admire his music as well as the background score. Interestingly, whenever Anirudh’s new film releases, there is always a discussion on social media about his work. Be it the musical score or the songs, everything becomes a viral sensation in no time.

When Agnyathavaasi failed at the box office, his hard work on the film’s music album went unnoticed. But, he bounced back with Jersey and a couple of other films in Telugu. From the first film itself, Anirudh bagged a huge fan base on social media, from the Telugu community. The people call him ‘Bakkodu’ for his lean personality.

Today, speaking at the pre-release event of Kingdom, Anirudh said, “It’s been 13 years since my first film 3 was released in theatres. Since then, the Telugu audiences have poured in a lot of love for me. I am always grateful for you,” and added, “Yours Anirudh Ravichander aka Bakkodu.”

It clearly shows that Anirudh has officially acknowledged that Telugu people gave him the nickname – Bakkodu. It also states that Anirudh frequently follows the tweets and posts on social media of how people call him Bakkodu.

In recent times, fans have often requested directors to rope in Anirudh (Bakkodu) as the music director for new films. Even Thaman sportively said, “Bakkodiki rajini unte bandodiki ballaya unnadu”.

Anirudh’s sensational work in Master, Vikram, Jersey, Devara, and especially Jailer won hearts across languages. The Tamil films when dubbed in Telugu also did well, when the music was composed by Anirudh. Jersey remains his finest Telugu album, helping him connect deeply with the Telugu audience. It was in fact the start of Anirudh’s era in Telugu.

Though some fans express concern over delays in his Telugu projects, Anirudh always silences doubts with his quality output. Even with Kingdom, he has delivered beyond expectations, promising yet another blockbuster from his end.

Starring Vijay Deverakonda, Satyadev and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles, Kingdom is hitting the screens on July 31st.
