Pic Talk: Geethanjali Girija’s Latest Look

While the Gen Z kids may struggle to recognise who the lady in this picture is, the Millennials will quickly recollect her as Girija Shettar, the heroine of Nagarjuna and Mani Ratnam’s classic romance drama, Geethanjali. The film, which was released in 1989, made Girija a heartthrob of those times.

Girija made a rare video appearance on the first episode of Jagapathi Babu’s talk show ‘Jayammu Nischayammu Raa With Jagapathi.’ Geethanjali hero Nagarjuna was the guest on this special Independence Day episode.

In a video message on the talk show, Girija was all praise for her Geethanjali co-star Nagarjuna. “Geethanjali was my first movie. Nag has a great sense of humour. He’s a gentleman and nothing less than a legend. “Thank you, Nag, for being the co-star of my debut film,” Girija said, as she went nostalgic.

Girija’s gorgeous looks, dialogues, and even her costumes in Geethanjali were a rage in the late 80s and early 90s. The actress had appeared in only about seven movies in her career. She is currently settled in London, where she works as a journalist.
