Tiger Shroff’s new film Baaghi 4 faced the censor board’s wrath days before its release. Meanwhile, after watching the cuts the censor board had suggested, people on social media felt that the Hindi film industry had gone extremely overboard in the name of shooting violent and romantic sequences.
According to the reports, the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded Baaghi 4 an “A” certificate. Despite that, CBFC ordered 23 visual and audio cuts, which included the scene of the hero standing on a coffin, a sequence of rubbing the hand on the waist of a girl, a frontal naked scene, a sequence where Sanjay Dutt lights a cigarette from an amputated hand, a shot where a knife is thrown towards Jesus Christ and several other violent scenes. Coming to the audio cuts, the censor boards muted or replaced words like “bhang b***a”, “fingering”, “condom” and “b**e”.
Some of these scenes and dialogues are not acceptable in any film, considering their obscenity. Thus, people have opined that Bollywood is crossing the line in the name of cinema.
Already, we are witnessing many wrongdoings in society which are inspired by the violence and gore shown in various OTT films and shows. If this kind of content comes to the theatres, it will not convey a good message to society. Thus, it is a good move by the censor board to make several cuts and offer an “A” certificate for the film.
Meanwhile, the makers should also consider the amount of violence and gore that is shown in their movies. Certain limit should be set, especially for the films which will have a theatrical release.
With the suggested cuts, Baaghi 4 is set to hit the screens tomorrow (September 5), with a runtime of 157 minutes and 5 seconds.
