The huge success of Mahavatar Narasimha has opened a new path in Tollywood. What started as an experiment is now pushing more filmmakers to try animation in big movies.
Popular production house Sithara Entertainments has announced its next big project, Vayuputra, an animated film based on the story of Lord Hanuman. The film will be directed by Chandoo Mondeti, who recently made a hit with Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel. The makers are planning to release it during Dasara next year.
This film will not have any real actors. The complete story will be told through animated characters. Since the story of Hanuman is already familiar, the main challenge is how to add strong emotions and powerful visuals that keep the audience engaged throughout.
Producers now see animated films as a smart option, since they can cost less than star-driven films. But animation alone cannot guarantee success. Movies must have strong content, just like Mahavatar Narasimha, to impress the audience.
Experts feel this could be the start of a new trend in Tollywood, where animation becomes an important part of big-screen storytelling. Still, live-action films will remain important, as real actors bring emotions that animation cannot always match. For now, everyone is waiting to see if Vayuputra can set a new milestone for Indian animation cinema.
