Struggled with Superstar, Will He Shine with Mohanlal?

Director T.J. Gnanavel impressed many with his debut film, Jai Bhim. The courtroom drama was released directly on Amazon Prime Video. But it touched many hearts. As the director showed a lot of promise, he failed to make a mark with his second outing, Vettaiyaan, starring Superstar Rajinikanth.

The film disappointed many, including the fans, resulting in the criticism that Gnanvel can not handle star heroes. Now, he is set to work with Mohanlal, but there are clouds on this project as well.

As per the reports in the film circles, Mohanlal will likely work with TJ Gnanvel to bring the biopic of Saravana Bhavan owner P. Rajagopal. He successfully established the company and expanded its outlets to different countries.

However, he was later convicted of murder for ordering the killing of an employee to take his wife as a third wife. Rajagopal was sentenced to life in prison and died in 2019 while serving his sentence.

Tentatively titled Dosa King, the project is in the pipeline. However, it is unsure if the film’s director Gnanvel had learned the mistakes from his last film. He was criticized for unnecessarily blending some commercial elements to cater the fans of the superstar when it was not asked for.

He also underwent a pressure of handling such a big star which was clearly evident on the screen. Now, Mohanlal is no less than Rajinikanth, when it comes to Kerala.

If Mohanlal is working with Gnanvel, the pressure will be the same. Gnanvel must stick to his story telling skills and try to be as honest as possible on the big screen. The more he gives to the pressure, the more the project will suffer.

As of now, there is no official confirmation of this project and a formal announcement is expected to be out soon.
