Pawan Kalyan’s highly anticipated film, OG, has hit a roadblock in Telangana as the High Court suspended the state government’s order to increase ticket prices. Earlier, the Telangana government had allowed higher ticket rates and special benefit shows for the movie, but Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar’s directives have put the plan on hold.
This decision raises questions for audiences who have already booked tickets at the increased rates. It remains unclear whether buyers will receive refunds or if the distributors will approach the court again to resolve the issue.
According to the petitioner, only the Police Commissioner for Hyderabad and the district Collectors are legally authorized to approve ticket hikes. This means that the government’s initial order may have exceeded its jurisdiction.
Most likely, the solution will involve the Police Commissioner and district Collectors issuing fresh orders for the hike, allowing the movie’s screenings to proceed at higher rates without legal hurdles. Meanwhile, ticket sales in Andhra Pradesh continue without interruption, creating a contrast with the situation in Telangana, where the High Court intervention has temporarily frozen the price increase.
With the buzz around OG at an all-time high, distributors and fans alike are eagerly waiting for clarity on how ticketing and refunds will be handled in Telangana.
