OG: Shocking Attack On Theatre In Canada

Film.Ca Cinemas in Oakville is one of the premium cinemas in the region. A lot of people opt the venue for the best movie watching experience. However, a shocking incident in the early hours of September 25 while an attempted arson took place at the theatre.

Thankfully, no one was present at the time of the attack, and the cinema has confirmed that it remains fully open and safe for all guests. The property is currently screening several films including They Call Him OG and the management has issued a notice with regards to the same.

“In the early hours of September 25, Film.Ca Cinemas was the target of an attempted arson. Thankfully, no one was on site, and our theatre remains fully open and safe for guests. All shows are running as scheduled, including the Telugu-language film They Call Him OG. This is not the first time we’ve faced vandalism and threats tied to the screening of Indian films. While these repeated acts are troubling, they will never deter us from providing a safe and welcoming place for our community to enjoy cinema together,” they stated.

Prathyangira Cinemas that bagged the theatrical rights of the film in NA posted a tweet hinting at a targeted attack the property.

“Again it is “YOU” who did this coward act. We stand firmly beside @CouncillorKnoll @FilmCaCinemas and strongly condemn this vicious act of violence. #TheyCallHimOG running successfully in Canada. New locations will be announced tonight.” wrote the distributors.

Reportedly, a particular theatrical chain of cinemas that hold a domination in the area have issues with many South film distributors, including the distributors of OG now. As a result, the distributors chose to screen OG in screens that are against the group with which the conflict exist. Now, the distributors assume that they are behind this attack.

Halton Regional Police increased security to ensure the safety of everyone who visits.
