Thaman shared his experience of working on OG and how his style changed after working with Trivikram Srinivas.
He spoke about the problems before the OG trailer launch. Because of rains and unfinished VFX the trailer was not ready. But Pawan Kalyan still wanted fans in the stadium to see it. To avoid criticism online, Thaman and director Sujeeth stopped the live telecast and showed it only to the people at the venue.
Thaman also said that Trivikram changed the way he looks at music. Instead of making it loud, he learned to keep it simple and let it support the story. For Bheemla Nayak, Trivikram asked him to use raw sounds like nature and avoid too much electronic music.
For OG, even though the story is set in the 90s, Thaman used modern drum and bass sounds to connect with today’s youth. He created themes like Hungry Cheetah, Fire Storm and Guns and Roses instead of regular songs. He even mixed Pawan Kalyan’s theme with Emraan Hashmi’s theme in one scene to show the clash of both characters. His favorite parts of the film are the police station sequence and the interval.
Thaman also explained the new challenges in music. Songs today must work for short reels on Instagram, so he makes special versions for that. On TV, people often feel dialogues are low and music is too loud. He said this happens because films use theatre sound mixes on TV instead of proper TV mixes like before.
He added that even silence is part of music and he uses it carefully in his background score.
