The makers of Kalki 2 have recently announced that Deepika Padukone will no longer be a part of the film due to commitment issues. Announcing her exit, the film’s production hosue Vyjayanthi Movies tweeted, “This is to officially announce that
@deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”
According to the latest reports, another Bollywood actress, Alia Bhatt, will be replacing Deepika in the movie. Though the news hasn’t been made official yet, it is heard that the makers held discussions with Alia, and an official announcement will be made once she signs the dotted lines.
Earlier this year, it was rumoured that director Nag Ashwin would be making a female-oriented film with Alia Bhatt before kickstarting the works of Kalki 2. However, the project didn’t materialise.
Now, we hear another rumour about the collaboration of this director and the actress. It remains to be seen if the combo materialises this time. If she comes on board, this will be Alia’s first movie with Prabhas and her second film in Telugu, after RRR. Kalki 2 is expected to hit the floors next year, after Prabhas gets done with his ongoing commitments.
