Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, produced by the pan-India production house Hombale Films, has received an extraordinary response at the box office across the country.
In just its first week, Kantara Chapter 1 grossed 509 crore worldwide, setting a new benchmark. As the film continues its remarkable run, Rishab Shetty, who both directed and starred in the movie, shared his thoughts on its success.
He extended thankfulness to the Telugu audience for such response. “Just like how they embraced Kantara, they’ve given the same immense love to this film as well.”
Rishab expressed his joy at contributing to the revival of folklore cinema in India. “We always aimed to tell the story with sincerity, and that honesty connected with the audience. India is a treasure trove of folklore. I’m happy that this film’s success might inspire more such stories to be brought to life,” he said.
He described Kantara as a complex script. “Every day during filming came with its own challenges. But that’s what made the journey so fulfilling. Creating an entire world like Kantara required an enormous amount of effort. We even built a dedicated studio in our region specifically for this project.”
Rishab also stated that he enjoys direction even more than acting.
