Normal Ticket Prices – Smart Move for Diwali

Ticket prices are playing a significant role in drawing crowds to theatres. Even for big-budget films, hiked ticket prices are proving to be an undoing factor after the first few days as common audience usually like to watch only after the initial hype fades away and genuine feedback comes out. Experts believe the high ticket prices are turning out to be a big bane for movies after the first weekend.

Recently, Pawan Kalyan’s gangster drama OG, which turned out to be a good hit, witnessed a steep fall in collections from the first Monday due to exorbitant ticket prices even though it secured decent talk on the opening day. Whereas Teja Sajja’s Mirai set the cash registers ringing and enjoyed a strong run for several days despite heavy competition because of the regular ticket prices. The decision taken by Mirai team has been widely appreciated.

Now, the makers of all four upcoming films for Diwali have decided not to hike the ticket prices and opted for normal rates. This is a smart move because audience would like to watch films during the festival season irrespective of the word of mouth and reviews if there are affordable ticket prices. Moreover, if these films manage to garner positive talk, theatres will receive solid footfalls irrespective of heavy competition and will result in strong revenues. Also it will be a big relief for audience with lower ticket prices.

This Diwali, four films will test their luck at the box office. Kiran Abbavaram’s K-Ramp, Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude, Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s Telusu Kada and comedy caper Mitra Mandali are going to clash within three days. All films are carrying decent expectations and the impressive promotional campaign has created strong pre-release hype. With normal ticket fares, trade circles are expecting a good phase at the box office during the festival season.
