I Never Considered Myself Sexy: Samantha

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is an outspoken woman and her candid statements often gain the attention of the media. Whenever she talks about her personal life and career, Samantha honestly reveals about the struggles she faced and the tough situations she handled throughout the journey.

At the NDTV World Summit 2025 session, she once again opened up about some of the defining moments in her life and the choices that shaped her career. 

In a freewheeling interaction with NDTV journalist, Samantha stated that her choices were a result of curiosity and self challenge rather than image-making. She said she always wanted to portray characters that add a layer to her career as those films don’t come often.

Interestingly, she added that her decision to sign item song in Pushpa was personal. She stated that it was done to test her boundaries. Samantha admitted that she never considered herself sexy and no director has given her a bold role, so it was done just as a one time thing with the highly popular and blockbuster ‘Oo Antava’ song from Pushpa which was a huge hit. 

Samantha also shared about her financial status before coming into films and opened up about her feeling towards success. After being in the public eye over her personal life matters and health issues, Samantha said she made discipline and mindfulness as top priorities.

Samantha openly expressed disappointment for facing trolls and getting judged for being open and vulnerable. She felt that ambition is not about chasing fame or validation, but about finding the meaning of life. 

Samantha is currently on a brief sabbatical from taking up full length roles. She recently produced a horror comedy Subham.
