Finally, Kaantha locks release date

Dulquer Salmaan is going through the best phase of his career both as an actor and as a producer. He scored a huge blockbuster with ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ and bagged laurels for his performance. This year, he delivered the biggest hit for Mollywood as a producer with Lokah Chapter 1 : Chandra. Now, he is gearing up for his upcoming projects which are lined up for release in the coming months.

The long awaited period drama Kaantha, which grabbed the attention of moviegoers with interesting posters and teasers, will be Dulquer Salmaan’s next release. The film, which was supposed to hit the screens in September, was postponed due to the successful run of Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah at the Kerala box office.

Now, the release date of Kaantha has been announced as November 14th. On the eve of Diwali, the makers unveiled a captivating glimpse which features intriguing expressions of the lead characters in the film. We can see Dulquer Salmaan, Bhagyashree Borse and Samuthirakani staring fiercely at the camera amidst a pulsating background score in this brief snippet.

The makers have opted for a solo release date with no significant competition from any prominent films in other languages. However, with no festival advantage, it will require unanimous reviews and strong word of mouth to perform well at the box office due to unseason.

Directed by Selvaraj Selvamani, the film tells the story of a father and a son inspired by the life of legendary filmmaker Ayya. It boasts a strong technical team with cinematography by Dani Sanchez-Lopez and music by Jhanu Chanthar.
