Baahubali: The Epic, a remastered and re-edited version combining Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, is set to hit theatres on October 31. Paid premieres in India begin on October 30, while overseas premieres start from October 29.
Ahead of the release, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and director SS Rajamouli took part in a candid conversation revisiting the making and memories of the franchise. During the chat, Prabhas asked Rajamouli about the film’s final length and what scenes were trimmed in this new version.
Rajamouli revealed that while the two original parts together run for about five and a half hours, Baahubali: The Epic has been condensed to around 3 hours and 45 minutes. The major portions removed include the love track between Sivudu and Avantika, played by Prabhas and Tamannaah, which originally featured in the first half of The Beginning.
Along with this, the song Paccha Bottesina and other musical numbers like Kanna Nidurinchara and Manohari were edited out. Rajamouli explained that certain parts of the war sequences were also shortened but emphasized that the overall story remains intact. “The highs and emotions are all there. Only a few sequences that didn’t add much to the story have been trimmed,” he said.
Addressing speculation about new additions, Rajamouli clarified that no new scenes were added, except for a small intercut sequence during Sivudu’s entry into Mahishmati, featuring Nassar and a soldier, a moment that fans might enjoy.
He also confirmed that the film’s interval will carry a glimpse of the next chapter in the franchise an animated feature titled Baahubali: The Eternal War, directed by Ishan Shukla and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda. The film, mounted on a budget of ₹12 crore, is scheduled for release in 2027.
