First Look: Lokesh Kanagaraj as Devadas in DC

Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for Kaithi, Vikram, Leo and Coolie, is turning actor. After directing some of Tamil cinema’s biggest action films, he is now making his acting debut in a lead role with a film titled DC.

The film is directed by Arun Matheswaran, known for Rocky, Saani Kaayidham and Captain Miller. DC is produced by Sun Pictures, the same banner that worked with Lokesh on Coolie.

The makers released a short title teaser introducing the film. It presents Lokesh as Devadas and Wamiqa Gabbi as Chandra, whose initials form the title DC. The teaser sets a dark and violent tone, showing Lokesh with a knife and Wamiqa in a bold look. It also features a theme track titled Ain’t Nobody, composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

The film is said to mix romance and action, staying true to Arun’s gritty style. Wamiqa Gabbi, who was last seen in Bhool Chuk Maaf, continues her multilingual streak with projects like Jubilee, 83, Modern Love Chennai and G2.

For Lokesh, DC marks a new phase as he steps in front of the camera for the first time. The film is slated for a summer 2026 release.

Lokesh is currently shooting for the film’s first schedule in Chennai, which is expected to wrap up by January. After completing DC, he will move on to direct Kaithi 2, one of the most awaited projects from his cinematic universe.
