Pooja Hegde, who once ruled the roost in South India with an enviable filmography and by sharing screen with almost all top league actors in Telugu and Tamil, has been away from the spotlight for nearly two years after a series of flops since her last biggest blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
Films like Deva and Retro, which released this year, did not go any favours to her career as both of them tanked at the box office. Her sizzling performance in the sole item song of Coolie gave the much needed spark to her low lying career. The Radheyshyam actress is now on a comeback trail in South as she is back to her busy days like how she was during the peak of her career.
Pooja Hegde is already a part of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayagan and Dulquer Salmaan’s next project. Besides this she has bagged an offer in the highly popular Kanchana franchise for the fourth installment. There are now reports that Pooja Hegde has been finalized as the leading lady for Dhanush’s soon-to-be started film which will be directed by Amaran fame Rajkumar Periyaswamy.
This will be a career defining phase for Pooja Hegde as she secured back-to-back offers despite her flop streak and heavy competition from a bunch of new generation heroines and in-form actresses. Moreover, she also have a couple of Bollywood offers in her kitty. If a couple of these films turn out to be big hits, Pooja Hegde might look to reclaim her status as one of the leading heroines in South India.
