Chay, Akhil Don’t Have Guts To Remake Shiva: Nag

Nagarjuna’s Shiva turned out to be a trendsetter and became an inspiration for many filmmakers. Ram Gopal Varma, in his directorial debut, created cinematic magic that continues to influence Indian cinema. The film is now set for a grand re-release on November 14th.

RGV recalled that music was one of the biggest challenges during production. “With Dolby Atmos, we can now experience every sound in its full dimension. Shiva has always been dedicated solely to Nagarjuna. Back then, I even had doubts about how I could convince the cycle stunt with him, and I wondered how he agreed to do it.”

Reflecting on his inspirations, Varma shared: “I’ve always been a huge fan of Bruce Lee. Initially, I planned to make a small film titled Rathri. Around that time, Venkat suggested I write a story for Nagarjuna. I remember watching Return of the Dragon for the 50th time. I simply replaced the restaurant backdrop with a college setting for Shiva. I came up with the one-line idea in just 20 minutes, combining all my college experiences into it.”

When asked if he would collaborate with Nagarjuna again, RGV said: “I decided that if I were to approach Nagarjuna for another film, I would do so only after delivering a hit.”

Nagarjuna expressed his gratitude to RGV once again: “Just a few days ago, when I watched Shiva again, it felt like watching a completely new film. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Two days after my father watched it, while all kinds of comments were pouring in, he took me for a drive and said the film was a huge hit.”

When asked whether his sons Naga Chaitanya or Akhil might ever remake Shiva, Nagarjuna laughed and said: “Chaitanya and Akhil don’t have the guts to remake Shiva.”

He also expressed his desire to work with Amala once again in a film.
