Rashmika : ‘Everyone Deserves a Vijay in Their Life’

Rashmika Mandanna’s first female-oriented film The Girlfriend hit the screens last Friday and opened to positive word of mouth. Though it started on a modest note, the film picked up pace over the weekend as the response from audiences turned strongly in its favour. On Wednesday, the team held a success meet in Hyderabad, with Vijay Deverakonda attending as the chief guest.

As everyone knows, rumours about Vijay and Rashmika’s relationship have been doing the rounds for quite some time now. From dating to engagement reports, everything has been written about them. As this is their first public appearance in recent times, naturally, fans expected the duo to address their relationship at the event. While that didn’t happen, both shared heartfelt words about each other that spoke volumes.

Rashmika, in her speech, said, “Last but not the least, Vijay… Vijju has been a part of this film from the very beginning, and today he’s here at the success meet too. For me, he’s part of this whole journey. I can only hope everyone has a Vijay Deverakonda in their lives, because that’s a blessing.”

Vijay Deverakonda, in his turn, showered praises on Rashmika and her growth as an actor and as a person. “I’ve seen Rash evolve over the years. While I tend to be aggressive, she always chooses kindness. The world will see who she truly is one day. The Girlfriend isn’t just a film, it’s a purpose. Rash, I’m proud you’re standing here with a film that gives strength to others,” he said.

On the work front, Vijay and Rashmika will soon be seen together again in a period drama directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film is currently in production and is expected to hit theatres next year.
