When Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh was announced few years ago, there were numerous speculations in the industry and media circles that director Harish Shankar is once coming up with a remake drama just like their first collaboration Gabbar Singh. It was believed that this film’s story is inspired by Thalapathy Vijay’s Theri. Moreover, many believed that the film has been delayed only because of Pawan Kalyan’s busy political commitments and other movies assignments.
Putting an end to all rumours, director Harish Shankar has finally revealed that Ustaad Bhagat Singh is not at all a remake film. During the launch of first single today evening, Harish Shankar clarified that Pawan Kalyan was not the reason behind the inordinate delay in completing this project. He stated that Pawan Kalyan gave complete support and even shot for 18-20 hours on some days despite his political duties to complete the shoot in quick time.
Harish Shankar said he initially wanted to do a classy film with college backdrop unlike mass entertainer like Gabbar Singh, but later gave up the idea after seeing Pawan Kalyan’s line up and then planned a remake film which did not work due to various reasons due to which the film got delayed indefinitely. He also admitted going through mental depression during COVID pandemic and finally coming up with a fresh script that suits Pawan Kalyan’s mass image.
Harish Shankar further added that the film finally went on to sets after much delay and was completed in a short period only because of Pawan Kalyan’s dedication. He said that the Deputy CM used to reach Hyderabad after completing his official duties and cabinet meetings and took part in shoot till early morning and then immediately get back to his work without much rest.
So, Harish Shankar’s speech has ended the long suspense on the remake rumours and cleared the misconception that the film got delayed because of Pawan Kalyan.
