Andhra Pradesh cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh has opened up about the plan that Andhra Pradesh government is trying to implement with regards to movie ticket prices in the state. In a press conference, he stated that the government plans to introduce a comprehensive policy to regulate movie ticket prices without hiking them every time a new film is released.
There is a lot of backlash and criticism from the audiences every time a film applies for a price hike. Most of the times, it is not working in the favour of producers as well and is also impacting on the footfalls. In this context, Durgesh said that the discussions are underway to ensure ticket rates remain fair to both the film industry and audiences.
With regards to the same, Durgesh held a meeting today in Andhra Pradesh on movie ticket pricing, attended by film personalities and senior government officials. He assured that a clear system would be put in place so that issues do not arise with every new release.
Filmmaker Teja remarked that frequent increases in ticket prices have made watching films expensive, to the point where even buying popcorn has become difficult.
Durgesh further noted that repeated hikes in ticket rates are creating unnecessary problems, and said a decision would be taken to implement a single, uniform policy on pricing.
