Gulte Pro recently interviewed Akhil Raj, and he opened up about his journey, struggles, and the turning points in his career. He gained success with his recent film Raju Weds Rambai and shared how it changed his life. Born in Warangal, Akhil grew up moving from town to town due to his father’s job as a police constable. The constant relocation made friendships difficult but inspired his dream of acting after noticing the magic of cinema theaters compared to home TVs.
His start in films was tough. His first audition came through a Facebook message for Andhra Pori, and he survived on a monthly salary of just ₹7,000, sometimes less. Along the way, he also faced broken promises from people who offered projects that never materialized.
Akhil says success in Tollywood can happen suddenly. Quoting fellow actor Kiran Abbavaram, he shared, “One Friday can change everything.” After his film clicked, he earned in a single day what he couldn’t in 20 years of a regular job. Yet, he knows that keeping fame is harder, as new heroes emerge every week.
Today, Akhil focuses on purpose over money, choosing strong scripts and entertaining audiences sincerely, believing that rewards follow naturally.
