Did a Last-Minute Trailer Change Cause a Disaster for Mahesh?

Producer Anil Sunkara is currently busy promoting his upcoming release Nari Nari Naduma Murari, starring Sharwanand in the lead role. During the promotions, he recalled an incident from the time of 1 Nenokkadine promotions, which was also planned for a release during Sankranthi back in time. Anil shared how they called off the release of the film’s trailer in the last minute.

Team 1 Nenokkadine planned the pre-release event of the film live in many cinema theatres at that time, only to exclusively launch the trailer in the presence of fans across the Telugu states. Instead of a typical grand event, tickets were distributed to fans across theatres, with live links set up so Mahesh Babu could interact with them directly. But, their plan was ruined with a phone call.

“When we were about to step on stage, a phone call abruptly halted the plan to reveal the trailer. The caller warned that releasing the trailer at that moment would negatively impact the film’s openings. It shook us and we had to suddenly call off the trailer’s launch and release an action cut at a later date. But, when the fans entered the theatres, they were angry with us that we have not prepared them,” said Anil.

Despite its box-office performance, 1 Nenokkadine has since been recognized as a cult classic and remains regarded as a significant and daring film in Telugu cinema.
