Rebel Star Prabhas is betting high on his new release titled Raja Saab. Directed by Maruthi, the film is hitting the screens tomorrow. When Prabhas is being looked at as a pan-India commercial star, he is attempting a horror comedy, which is a surprise to the trade and audiences. However, Prabhas can shift the genre by 90 degrees, which he did earlier as well.
In a recent promotional interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga raised the same point with Prabhas, who responded appropriately. Prabhas revealed that he was in a similar situation 15 years ago when he got bored with doing action movies.
“I started off with an action film, with my debut film. But when I did Darling, everyone thought that it would not work. But with Darling, I proved that I can do such films. Now, I am repeating the same with Raja Saab. I want to tell everyone that I can do these kinds of films as well,” said Prabhas.
Prabhas is exploring a horror-comedy genre with fantasy elements for the first time. He is aiming to repeat the same with Raja Saab, to make a statement for the National audiences that, despite being an action hero, he can also shift the genre and still be successful.
If what Prabhas is foreseeing is going to happen, we can expect more stars stop running behind event films and attempt a genre shift.
