Thalapathy Vijay is returning to the big screens with Jana Nayagan, which was originally supposed to release in theatres on January 9. However, that is not the case now as the release got postponed to a later date due to the delay in censor formalities.
While Vijay’s fans are arguing that the central government is looking to pressurise this film through political hindrance, the Congress leadership has come in Thalapathy’s support.
In this regard, a Congress Senior leader from Tamil Nadu stated that the controversy surrounding actor Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’ has sparked concerns about the misuse of political power. While political disagreements are understandable, targeting an artist’s work is unacceptable.
The people of Tamil Nadu will not tolerate censorship of cinemas for political gains. We urge you to ensure that art and entertainment are not used as pawns in political battles. Vijay’s film is facing delays due to your pressure on authorities, which is unfair to the producers and fans. Let’s keep politics out of art and respect creative freedom, it was reported.
This comes at a time when TVK leaders themselves had commented that Rahul Gandhi was 1st to support Thalapathy during Karur incident. And now the latest development where Congress stood to support Thalapathy during the Jama Nayagan issue is hinting growing camaraderie between TVK and Congress.
