Breaking: Jana Nayagan Gets Big Relief In High Court, But…

Thalapathy Vijay’s final offering Jana Nayagan, which was scheduled to hit the screens this Friday, has been postponed due to censor row after the Madras High Court reserved the verdict till today morning. The makers approached the court after the censor certificate was delayed. 

After considering the arguments of both sides, the High Court has finally passed the judgement in the favour of the film. The court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification to immediately issue U/A certificate to Jana Nayagan with immediate effect. 

The court observed that entertaining anonymous complaints would set a dangerous precedent and further said that the CBFC chairperson’s letter uploaded on January 6 is without jurisdiction. It also added that once the modifications recommended by the examining committee is carried out, the certificate for the film would automatically follow.

The high court thus set aside the letter of the CBFC chairperson sending the movie to the review committee which was the main reason for the delay in issuing the censor certificate for film and ultimately forced the makers to postpone it. 

Immediately after the judgement was passed The Additional Solicitor General Sundaresan made an urgent mention before CJ bench for appeal. However, the court questioned the intent behind an urgent appeal and informed that it would look into it only after it was filed.

However, the court questioned the urgency behind the appeal and said it would consider the matter only after the appeal is formally filed. As of now, the situation remains uncertain, and the final clarity will come only after the Chief Justice delivers the verdict.
