‘IT Professional by Day, Film Producer by Night’

In the busy world of films, Srujan Yarabolu stands out for a simple reason. Even after producing well received films like 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu, he still works a full time IT job in the United States. In an interview with Gulte Pro, Srujan spoke about how he manages cinema alongside a regular office life, and what he has learned from this unusual journey.

After 35 released, the film received strong appreciation from critics and the media. For Srujan, it was a proud moment. But he says success did not make things easy overnight. He shared that OTT platforms often give more importance to big production houses. Still, the success of 35 helped him get direct conversations with major platforms like Amazon.

One interesting thing about Srujan’s working style is how he checks audience reactions. Before releasing a film, he screens it for different kinds of people. College students, working professionals, and even auto drivers are part of these screenings. Their feedback matters a lot. In fact, for his upcoming films, some parts were re edited and even reshot after these screenings to make the second half more engaging.

When it comes to money, Srujan avoids heavy interest loans. Instead, he brings in small investors from the US and also works with known production houses. To help new filmmakers, he is also doing something different. He is preparing a Black Book and a long vlog series that shows the full planning process of his latest film. The idea is to give film students a clear and practical idea of how a movie is planned from start to finish.

Looking ahead, Srujan has some interesting projects lined up. One is a high energy Hyderabadi comedy, and another is a film with heavy VFX work, with nearly thirty minutes of visual effects. This project is expected to release in the second half of 2026. His latest film Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi set to release on Jan 30.

Even with all the challenges, Srujan says his goal is simple. He wants to make films that feel honest, stay true to the story, and still connect with the audience.
