The Hyderabad city Police have been repeatedly warning the public about the numerous avenues of cyber scams. And now we have another one, such new scam that is generating a lot of traction and is to be dealt with on priority.
This new scam in discussion involves the traffic police department as people have started to receive text messages on their mobiles that their vehicles are caught in traffic violations and they must pay the fine immediately.
These messages are coming from random numbers and they have plagiarised links that could potentially lead to money deduction from banking apps or theft of private data on mobile phones.
Generally, these messages are sent by the verified numbers associated with Hyderabad traffic police department, and this is what the public is accustomed to. But there is this alarming new trend where such messages are coming from random numbers and people are falling prey to the same.
Certain individuals are opening these links and are facing the brunt of cyber attack as they’re losing money. Shockingly enough, even IPS officers and educated intellectuals have been posting about this new cyber scam in Hyderabad but still, people are falling to the same as they’re succumbing to the pressure of clearing the traffic challan immediately.
