Director Anil Ravipudi is riding high on the massive success of his latest blockbuster Mana Shankara VaraPrasad Garu. In a special chit chat with Gulte Pro, the director spoke openly about the film’s success, his long journey with comedy, working with Megastar Chiranjeevi, and what lies ahead for him.
Talking about the response to Mana Shankara VaraPrasad Garu, Anil Ravipudi said the love from family audiences gave him the biggest satisfaction. He described it as a special moment to see families attending late night premiere shows during the Sankranthi season, calling it a rare and memorable experience. He added that every hit gives a different kind of happiness, depending on the hero and the film’s setup.
Sharing his thoughts on working with Chiranjeevi, Anil said his main goal was to bring back the vintage Megastar he grew up watching. He designed the character as a simple and relatable common man, almost like someone we see in our own neighborhood. This approach allowed comedy to flow naturally, with even supporting characters getting space to create humour. He also highlighted a dining table scene where Chiranjeevi switches from fun to emotion within seconds, showcasing his legendary acting range.
Speaking about comedy, Anil Ravipudi admitted that even after 15 years, writing humour is never easy. To keep it fresh, he changes the setting and emotional core for every film. While some of his earlier films focused on jealousy, this film revolved around ego, especially between a divorced couple. He also spoke about the popular crow scene, which was inspired by the common belief that a crow’s call signals the arrival of guests, turning it into one of the film’s most loved moments.
The director also addressed the much discussed kitty party sequence. He said he was initially cautious because of the sensitive subject, but was happy that even women audiences enjoyed it. His intention, he clarified, was not to criticize anyone but to reflect certain real life situations in a light hearted way.
Looking ahead, Anil Ravipudi revealed that he has already locked a powerful idea for his next film. While enjoying the current success and the affection of family audiences, he said he feels more responsible than ever to deliver entertaining cinema in the future.
