A Big Shuffle In ‘Mega’ Summer

Mega heroes are back on the success track. After Pawan Kalyan’s terrific comeback with OG last year, Megastar Chiranjeevi delivered a unanimous blockbuster with Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu recently. Mega fans are now on cloud nine with back-to-back hits.

All eyes are now on the upcoming Summer season. Mega heroes are supposed to dominate box office during this sultry season as much anticipated biggies like Peddi, Ustaad Bhagat Singh and Vishwambhara are slated for release in the span of few weeks. Additionally, Sai Durgha Tej’s Sambaralu Yetigattu and Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju are also aiming for late Summer release.

But, a major reshuffle of Mega films is on cards as Ram Charan’s Peddi, which was initially announced to hit the screens on March 27th, is most likely to miss out the early Summer release plans due to pending shooting formalities and post production activities.

Though an official statement about postponement is awaited, close sources revealed that the makers of Peddi are now planning to release the film on May 1st.

Meanwhile, buzz intensified around Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh release date as speculation is rife that it might occupy the release date of Peddi. Though the shooting part is completed, there is considerable amount of patch work and post production activities.

It all depends on how quickly the team readies the first copy so that Ustaad Bhagat Singh can take the vacant slot in the last week of March. 

Chiranjeevi’s long delayed fantasy adventure Vishwambhara was postponed several times due to the delay in VFX effects. The team planned for a grand release during Summer given that it was made on a massive budget and require a holiday season to recoup the investment in the long run. But, reports are now coming that Vishwambhara is going to miss Summer season and aim for July 10th release. 

So, what was supposed to be a Mega Summer with back-to-back biggies is now likely to witness a major reshuffle due to the recent developments. While uncertainty continues over the release date of Peddi, it is all but confirmed that Ustaad will arrive earlier in theatres. Clarity is still awaited on the release plans of Vishwambhara.
