Celebrity identity has become increasingly vulnerable in an era dominated by social media and artificial intelligence. Man of Masses and star hero NTR recently approached the Delhi High Court seeking relief against widespread digital misuse of his persona and name.
Hon’ble Delhi High Court has extended protection to the personality and publicity rights of Man of Masses Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, recognizing the commercial and personal value of his identity. The Court acted on a petition filed by the actor highlighting widespread unauthorised use of his name, image, and associated identifiers across digital platforms and commercial channels.
The Court acknowledged NTR’s star status, noting that his name, likeness “NTR,” “Tarak,” “Jr. NTR,” “NTR.Jr” and “Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr. , and sobriquets such as “Man of Masses” and “Young Tiger” are uniquely associated with him in the public consciousness. The Court directed that any unauthorised commercial exploitation of these identifiers must be removed under applicable laws
The Court’s order further extended protections against unknown or anonymous offenders, restraining them from exploiting NTR’s identity. Any misuse or misrepresentation that harms or damages his reputation will attract severe legal consequences and be punishable under law.
