The phone tapping investigation in Telangana appears to be entering a new phase, with reports suggesting that the SIT is preparing to issue notices to former CM and BRS president KCR.
The Congress government had constituted the SIT following allegations that illegal phone tapping took place during the BRS regime. While the investigation has been underway for nearly two years, BRS leaders including KTR and Harish Rao had earlier made sarcastic remarks comparing the prolonged probe to a never ending television serial.
In a fresh development, sources indicate that SIT officials are ready to serve notices to KCR in connection with the same case. It is learnt that the team is expected to visit KCR’s farmhouse at Erravalli shortly to hand over the notices.
There is also speculation that the SIT may conduct questioning at the Erravalli farmhouse itself on Thursday. However, no official confirmation has been issued so far regarding the mode or location of the inquiry.
Until now, the general expectation was that leaders like Kavitha would be summoned next, following the questioning of Harish Rao, KTR, and Santosh. The sudden emergence of KCR’s name has therefore drawn significant attention.
The timing of this development has added political weight, as Telangana is heading into municipal elections. In this backdrop, the move to issue SIT notices to KCR has become a major point of discussion in political circles.
An official statement from the SIT is awaited to clarify the next course of action in the case.
