Direction Over Acting: Tharun’s Strength Remains Clear!

Tharun Bhascker made his directional debut ten years ago with Pelli Choopulu. But, his filmography has more movies as an actor than as a director. He appeared in several cameo appearances and also did many character roles all these years due to his penchant for acting. 

Despite proving his mettle with solid screen presence and commanding dialogue delivery, Tharun couldn’t achieve the desired success as actor. May be, he cannot draw the attention of moviegoers despite playing significant roles which carry the narrative forward. 

His latest film Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi failed to generate strong hype before its release and eventually turned out to be a forgettable outing for him as an actor. This raises a serious question about whether he should focus on direction and set aside his acting ambitions, as even a solid performance from him could not help the film at the ticket counter.

As a director, he turned out to be an emerging talent after he won critical acclaim and bagged commercial success with Pelli Choopulu. When he broke the second film syndrome by scoring a big hit with Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi, Tharun cemented his place in Tollywood. His third offering Keeda Cola also received decent response at the box office. 

The success of these films proved that Tharun Bhascker has the potential to attract youth audiences with his sensible direction and relatable writing skills. He is currently busy working on the sequel to Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi which is carrying good expectations.

Critics and moviegoers feel it would be ideal for his career if he sticks to direction rather than focusing on acting. He is expected to see strong growth as a director if he delivers a big success with ENE 2.

Reportedly, producers are spending around ₹40 crore on this ambitious sequel, which clearly shows the faith and potential Tharun Bhascker has as a director.
