Generally, top teams like India, Australia, and South Africa preferred to have a stable core squad before entering the major ICC tournaments. But due to last-minute combination, certain changes will have to be made to the final squad, and India could be preparing for the same now.
The latest developments are suggesting that India could go for a big change in the final squad just before the start of the T20 World Cup.
This is primarily due to the poor form that is being displayed by Sanju Samson, as he was absolutely pathetic with the bat in the New Zealand series. On the other hand, we have young player, Ishaan Kishan, who is in the form of his life.
The way in which Ishaan Kishan played in the T20 games against New Zealand was absolutely breathtaking to watch. He clearly deserves a place in the team, and this is where the complication begins.
Once Tilak Varma returns to the top order, then only one of Sanju Samson or Ishaan Kishan can be in the final 11. Considering the current form, there is every chance that Ishan Kishan could prove to be the natural choice for the opening position in the place of Sanju.
Sanju Samson had the conventional choice for the opening position in the team for a long time, but his poor form, and also the remarkable rise of Ishaan could bring a change in the composition.
It has to be seen if the team management would decide to sideline Sanju Samson and give place to Ishaan Kishan just before the start of the World Cup, which is barely a week from now.
