Popular comedian Sudharshan spoke to Gulte Pro and shared how his life took an unexpected turn towards cinema.
Born in Proddutur and brought up in Nellore, Sudharshan did not initially plan to become an actor. After completing his studies, he moved to Hyderabad with the aim of clearing IELTS and going abroad like his friends. However, he soon realized that his heart was not in that direction.
During that time, he reconnected with his close friend Srikanth Reddy, who later directed Aadikeshava. That meeting changed everything. Instead of pursuing a foreign dream, Sudharshan stepped into the world of short films. The response to those projects was very positive and even noted filmmakers like RGV, Vamsy, and Sudheer Varma appreciated his work. That encouragement gave him the confidence to continue in films.
Sudharshan recalled that he has always been a cinema lover. During his B Tech days in Tirupati, he used to watch multiple films a day in theatres. Movies were always his passion, though he never imagined he would one day act in them.
Talking about his career in Tollywood, Sudharshan admitted that he is often cast as the hero’s friend. He said he is happy with the love he receives but is careful while choosing roles. According to him, once an actor does certain types of roles, it becomes difficult to change the audience perception. So he prefers to pick characters that keep him comfortable and relatable.
On the work front, Sudharshan is quite busy. His film Hey Bhagvan is set for release soon, where he plays an important role. He is also part of Sri Vishnu’s Vishnu Vinyasam and Comrade Kalyan. In Mrutyunjaya, an intense crime thriller, he will be seen in a more serious role, showing a different side of his acting. Another project, Godavari Gattu Paina, is also nearing completion.
Sudharshan thanks the audience and the industry for their constant support. While comedy remains his strength, he hopes to slowly explore roles that allow him to show more emotions and depth on screen.
